Shotokan Karate of Ellwood is in the news, they were only there for the Mighty Mite class, so those in that class may recognize some familiar faces.  Thanks to Louise the reporter who put together a really good article and to Tiffany (whose son was once a Mighty Mite) for the great pictures.

For those of you that are visiting from the dojo please look around you will see links to basic techniques that we do in class in previous posts, as well as a video for tying your belt, for those of you that are new or need a reminder on how to.  Also on the left hand side is a link called Modern Karate Kata that will direct you to a bunch of videos of kata that will be learned during the course of your studies, please don't jump ahead, instead focus on the kata you are currently working on, or for those more advanced students look back and review.

I didn't forget about the curious students who would like to check us out, on the right hand side is more information about our Mighty Mites classes as well as our general classes.  Also there is a link for FAQs and anything else that you need to know.  If there are any questions that aren't on this website or for more information please don't hesitate to contact me at (724) 494-9353, our next class will begin on January 7th of 2013.  Thank you for visiting our website and hope to see you in class.

SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR

There will be a self defense seminar offered for persons 16 years of age and up, on May 11 at 5:30PM in Apple Rehab in Ellwood City. This seminar will be free of charge , if anyone would like to attend please contact me at (724) 494-9353. Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congratulations goes to those who tested this past Saturday in Erie with Sensei Maeshima.  You all did a great job as was evident by the abundance of new colors in the dojo today. Keep training and remember it doesn't get easier, and more will be expected of you!

SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR

On Tuesday April 3rd at 7PM there will be a self-defense seminar being held at the North Sewickley Fire Hall, about 1 mile past Shakespears Restaurant. This seminar is a partnership between the Shotokan Karate of Ellwood and the North Sewickley Neighborhood Watch. All are welcome to attend and the seminar is free of charge. Please contact me with any questions.

JACKETS AND BAGS

Thanks to Mr. Marsh we now have jackets and bags with the clubs name on them, I have attached pictures showing what they look like. Jackets are $45 and the bags are $28.   If anyone is interested in purchasing please see me or Mr. Marsh.

I want to thank all of you who helped sell pizza rolls for the people attending the East Coast Tournament.  The sale was a big success and the amount our club made from those sales will help take a big chunk out of expenses for those going. Also a special thanks to Mr. Hawrylak for coordinating the fundraiser.  Arigatou gozaimasu!

For those of you that are going to the tournament in April we will be having extra training.  This will take place on Fridays from 5-5:30/5:45 depending on how many we have going.  If you want to go to the tournament and have not told me yet please do so by the end of the week.  Thank you!

MASTER CAMP

Master Camp this year is June 8-15 in Green Lane, PA about 40 minutes north of Philadelphia.  This is a great opportunity to train with some of the great shotokan masters from around the world including our Head Instructor Sensei Okazaki and the ISKF technical committee.  See me if you are interested in going.

 

 

 

 

ISKF EAST COAST TOURNAMENT

The ISKF East Coast Tournament is taking place April 14th in New Rochelle, New York.  If you are interested in going see me,  There are plans to have extra training to get ready for this, and also there is a fundraiser going on now.  If you dont plan on going but want to help fundraise for those going let me know.
